Hello, and welcome to my website!

I‘m Markus Tischer, freelance trainer and translator. I named my language service pont.e: pont in French and ponte in Italian mean "bridge". This name was consciously chosen and is also reflected in my logo. Just as the Konrad-Adenauer-Brücke over the Rhine connects two very different cities and federal states with each other (Mannheim with Ludwigshafen, Baden-Württemberg with Rhineland-Palatinate), I too build bridges with my language service: Bridges between different cultures.

Language is much more than just vocabulary, grammar and spelling. Language is culture.

About me

Hello! I‘m Markus Tischer.

I have been working as a freelance translator since the end of 2011, since graduating from the University of Heidelberg with a Degree in Translation Science with Italian and French and Economics (as subsidiary). I set my focus on viticulture, wine trade, fine foods, olive oil and travel and tourism. Other areas include furniture and interior design.
Before I started working as a translator, I spent more than 13 years as a wine consultant for well-known stores in Frankfurt am Main and the surrounding area. As well as consulting and sales, this included

  • organising and holding wine seminars
  • facilitating wine menus at partner restaurants
  • maintaing contact with suppliers from Italy and France and
  • translating information material from Italian and French wine producers.

My work as a wine consultant gave me the opportunity to acquire extensive knowledge about wine, spirits, olive oil and fine foods, which was complemented by in-house and external training and two internships with wine producers in Italy.

In addition to Italian and French, I regularly translate from English and Dutch into German.

Language teaching

For more than 20 years, working as a free-lance language teacher, for private persons as well as for companies, has been one of my main activities. In this context, I have been working for own account as well as for the account of public and private  institutes in Frankfurt, Mannheim and surroundings.
Next to German as a Foreign Language, I also offer lessons in English, French, Italian and Dutch. By constantly taking part in seminars, workshops and conferences, I keep myself up-to-date.
